The number of green charging stations in Turkiye exceeded 1/3 of the electric vehicle charging stations

The number of green charging stations in Turkiye exceeded one third of the total number of electric charging stations as of the end of January.

According to the information AA correspondent received from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), the number of charging stations is expected to continue to increase in direct proportion to the demand for electric vehicles, especially Turkiye’s car Togg.

While the number of electric vehicles and charging stations is increasing in Turkiye, with the EMRA regulation that will allow these vehicles to be used in a more environmentally friendly way, charging network operator license holders can designate all or some of the charging stations in their charging network as green charging stations.

Considering the rate of increase in renewable energy investments and the demand for electric vehicles, an increase in the number of green charging stations is expected.

According to EMRA data, the number of charging stations across Turkiye, which was 1719 at the beginning of 2023, increased to 6 thousand 58 as of the end of January, and the number of charging points (sockets) increased from 3 thousand 81 to 13 thousand 160.

The number of green charging stations reached 2,206 as of the end of January. Thus, the number of green charging stations in Turkiye exceeded one third of the total number of electric charging stations in this period.

Charging network operator license reached 181

With the regulations of EMRA, a wide range of licensed players, from vehicle manufacturers to fuel distribution companies, from electricity generation companies to start-ups, have joined the market.

To date, 181 companies have been granted charging network operator licenses within the framework of the “Charging Service Regulation”, which determines the procedures and principles regarding the establishment of charging units and stations that provide electrical energy to electric vehicles, the establishment of the charging network and charging stations connected to the charging network, the operation of the charging network and charging stations connected to the charging network, and the provision of charging service.

On the other hand, license applications and licensing procedures continue.

YEK-G legislation for the electric vehicle ecosystem has been completed

Certification that all of the electrical energy supplied to vehicles at green charging stations is produced by renewable energy sources is carried out with the “Renewable energy resource guarantee certificate (YEK-G certificate)”, which is bought and sold in the market operated by EPIAS. In this context, the legislative work to create synergy between the electric vehicle ecosystem and the YEK-G system has been completed.

In addition, with the “Sarj@TR” mobile application developed by EMRA, the geographical locations of charging stations, the number of charging units and sockets, their types and powers, payment methods, availability and charging service prices can be viewed instantly.

In addition, information such as how many charging stations, units, sockets and socket types are available in each city is published on the institution’s website, accessible to all citizens.
