$1.4 billion of exports from Turkiye to the Balkan countries

While exports to the Balkan countries increased by 8.4% in January compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching $1 billion 450 million, the highest export was made to Romania with $444 million 404 thousand.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), $1 billion 450 million were exported to the Balkan geography in the first month of the year, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Greece.

While foreign sales to the Balkans increased by 8.4% in a one-year period, the highest export among Balkan countries was made to Romania with $444 million 404 thousand last month.

Romania was followed by Bulgaria with $306 million 514 thousand, Greece with $187 million 673 thousand, Slovenia with $153 million 550 thousand and Serbia with $114 million 452 thousand.

In the said period, exports to Croatia were $49 million 905 thousand, to Albania $49 million 361 thousand, to North Macedonia $47 million 757 thousand, $45 million 565 thousand to Bosnia and Herzegovina, $37 million 491 thousand to Kosovo and $14 million 138 thousand to Montenegro.

The highest increase is in Montenegro

While exports to the Balkan geography increased in 6 countries last month, it decreased in 5 countries.

In this period, the highest increase in exports was to Montenegro with 104.1%. Montenegro was followed by Romania with 29.1%, Croatia with 17.8%, North Macedonia with 17.4%, Slovenia with 14.8% and Kosovo with 3.5%.

Exports to Greece decreased by 2.1%, to Serbia by 3.3%, to Bulgaria by 3.7%, to Bosnia and Herzegovina by 7.9% and to Albania by 12.5%.

Istanbul’s exports exceeded $680 million

Looking at the distribution of exports to the Balkan countries on the basis of provinces, it was seen that the export from Istanbul to this geography was $683 million 682 thousand.

With this amount, Istanbul alone shouldered 46.9% of the exports of $1 billion 450 million to the Balkan countries.

The highest export is from the automotive sector.

The automotive industry made the highest amount of exports to the Balkan geography in January. During this period, the automotive sector exported $256 million 702 thousand to the Balkan countries.

The automotive industry was followed by chemicals and products with $247 million 763 thousand, steel with $154 million 565 thousand, ferrous and non-ferrous metals with $124 million 752 thousand and electricity and electronics with $109 million 880 thousand.
