Konya to Karaman Fast Train Line test trips will start on February 8

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoglu stated that the signaling system installations on the Konya-Karaman High-Speed Train (HST) Line have been completed and that test drives will start on 8 February.

Minister Karaismailoglu, in his written statement, stated that within the scope of the Konya-Karaman-Ulukisla HST Project, a meeting was held with TCDD officials regarding the work in Konya-Karaman HST Line. He said that they continue to implement important projects that add value to the country one by one, and that they knit the country with iron nets with the innovative railway reform.

Karaismailoglu pointed out that with the Konya-Karaman-Ulukisla HST Project, Mersin-Adana will be transformed into 4 lines and additional capacity will be created for high-speed trains and suburban trains, and stated that within the scope of the project, a high-speed train line suitable for 200 kilometers per hour will be built between Konya, Karaman, and Adana.

Karaismailoglu, stated that it is planned to transfer the cargo coming through Konya and Ulukisla to Mersin and Iskenderun ports faster, and added saying, “The line capacity of 34 double trains per day will increase 3 times. Travel time from 1 hour 15 minutes will be reduced to 35 minutes. The connection of Mersin Port and Yenice Logistics Center by rail will be strengthened.”

Karasiamiloglu, pointing out that Turkey is making a great leap forward in terms of railways, stated that within the scope of the Konya-Karaman-Ulukisla HST Project, the provinces of Karaman, Nigde, Mersin and Adana will be connected to the fast railway network.

Stating that the Konya-Karaman high-speed railway line length is 102 kilometers, Karasiamiloglu said, “Its infrastructure and superstructure are finished. Signaling system installations have been completed in Konya-Karaman HST Line. Test drives will begin on 8 February. Test drives will take 3 weeks. Our goal is to start operating by the end of May. Our work continues rapidly on our Karaman-Ulukisla Line.”

Sharing the information that the first performance test was successfully completed within the scope of the Ankara-Sivas HST Project, Karaismailoglu stated that the travel time between Ankara and Sivas will decrease to 2 hours with the launch of the line.
