113,402 houses were sold in Turkiye in September

In Turkiye, 113,402 houses were sold in September. The number of houses sold in September decreased by 8.17% on a monthly basis and by 22.9% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Turkish Statistical Institute announced the house sales statistics for September.

Accordingly, the number of house sales in Turkiye decreased by 22.9% in September compared to the same month of the previous year and became 113 thousand 402.

The number of houses sold in September decreased by 8.17% compared to August. In August, 123 thousand 491 houses were sold.

In terms of sales numbers, Istanbul was the province with the highest share with 19,089 house sales and 16.8%. This province was followed by Ankara with 8 thousand 812 house sales and 7.8% share, and Izmir with 6 thousand 338 house sales and 5.6% share.

The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Hakkari with 40 houses, Ardahan with 49 houses and Gumushane with 98 houses.

Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 23.8%

The number of houses sold to foreigners across the country was 5 thousand 49. Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 23.8% on an annual basis in September. In the said month, the share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales was calculated as 4.5%.

Istanbul took the first place in house sales to foreigners with 1795 house sales. This province was followed by Antalya with 1585 house sales and Mersin with 335 house sales, respectively.

In September, Russian citizens bought 1196 houses from Turkiye. Russian citizens were followed by Iran with 592 residences and Iraqi citizens with 433 residences.

Mortgage sales decreased

In September, mortgaged house sales decreased by 43% compared to the same month of the previous year and fell to 16 thousand 970. The share of mortgaged sales in total house sales was 15. Mortgaged house sales in the January-September period, on the other hand, increased by 25.7% compared to the same period of the previous year and were recorded as 228 thousand 601.

In September, 5,429 of the mortgaged sales and 60,777 of the mortgaged sales in the January-September period were first hand sales.

The number of first-hand housing sales decreased

Other house sales in Turkiye decreased by 17.8% in September compared to the same month of the previous year and became 96 thousand 432. The share of other sales in total house sales was recorded as 85%. Other house sales in the January-September period increased by 8% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 828 thousand 592.

The number of first-hand housing sales decreased by 18.2% in September compared to the same month of the previous year and decreased to 35 thousand 954. The share of first hand house sales in total house sales was 31.7%. First-hand house sales rose to 312 thousand 118 in the January-September period, with an increase of 8.7% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Second-hand house sales decreased by 24.9% in September compared to the same month of the previous year and decreased to 77 thousand 448. The share of second-hand housing sales in total housing sales was 68.3%. Second-hand house sales were recorded as 745 thousand 75 in the January-September period, with an increase of 12.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
