123 thousand houses were sold in August across Turkiye

Throughout Turkiye, 123 thousand 491 houses were sold in August. The number of houses sold in August decreased by 12.7% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the house sales statistics for August.

Accordingly, house sales decreased by 12.7% in August compared to the same month of the previous year and became 123 thousand 491. Istanbul had the highest share in house sales with 18.485 house sales and 15.0%. According to the number of sales, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 9 thousand 736 house sales and 7.9% share, and Izmir with 6 thousand 395 house sales and 5.2% share. The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Hakkari with 41 houses, Ardahan with 63 houses and Bayburt with 101 houses, respectively.

Housing sales increased by 17.7% in the January-August period compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 943 thousand 791.

Mortgage housing sales decreased by 19.0% in August compared to the same month of the previous year and became 22 thousand 168. The share of mortgaged sales in total housing sales was 18.0%. Mortgage sales in the January-August period amounted to 211 thousand 631 with an increase of 39.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The number of first-hand housing sales was 39 thousand 25.

The number of first-hand housing sales decreased by 8.5% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 39 thousand 25. The share of first hand house sales in total house sales was 31.6%. In the January-August period, first-hand house sales increased by 13.6% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 276 thousand 164.

Second-hand house sales decreased by 14.5% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 84 thousand 466. The share of second-hand housing sales in total housing sales was 68.4%. Second-hand house sales in the January-August period increased by 19.5% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 667 thousand 627.

5 thousand 273 houses were sold to foreigners in August

Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 10.1% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 5 thousand 273. In August, the share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales was 4.3%. Antalya took the first place in housing sales to foreigners with the sales of 1,814 houses. Antalya was followed by Istanbul with 1,750 house sales and Mersin with 317 house sales, respectively.

In the January-August period, house sales to foreigners increased by 44.6% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 44 thousand 595.

In August, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 1,238 houses from Turkiye. Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by Iran with 633 residences and Iraqi citizens with 417 residences, respectively.
