20% discount on flights from THY to Lebanon

Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) Turkey-Lebanon Business Council Chairman Abdulkadir Akkus stated that the 20% discount application offered by Turkish Airlines (THY) on Lebanon flights will make it extremely easy for tourists to visit the country.

DEIK Turkey-Lebanon Business Council President Akkus, in his written statement, evaluated the effects of the 20% discount decision announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on tourism.

‘TRADE VOLUME INCREASED BY 80% LAST YEAR’

Stating that the trade volume between Turkey and Lebanon increased by 80% to $1.8 billion in 2021, Akkus stated that tourism activities take the highest share from the economy in Lebanon, which is a country of opportunities in terms of commercial activities and investment.

Akkus said:

“The discount will increase the income of tourism. This decision was welcomed in Lebanon and the officials we met thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. I would like to say that THY is very pleased to offer a 20% discount on flights to Beirut. The fact that this discount is valid for all flights connecting to Istanbul Airport will also make a significant contribution to Lebanon. The number of visitors to Lebanon will also increase. This agreement, made with the aim of attracting more tourists to Lebanon, will make it extremely easy for tourists to visit the country. Lebanon is geographically described as the ‘Paris of the Middle East’. The shining star of the entire Middle East geography. In terms of tourism, it is among the most visited and most modern countries in the Middle East.”

Noting that they are ready for more cooperation with Lebanon, Akkus said, “The dynamism in tourism activities will also activate the textile, shopping center, construction and food and beverage sectors. Lebanon, which has an economy in which the finance and insurance sectors, especially construction, as well as tourism are dominant, creates a great potential for Turkish investors with the investment opportunities it offers. As DEIK/Turkey-Lebanon Business Council, we will continue to make the necessary efforts to develop all our commercial relations and support tourism activities within this framework.”
