32.1% of bank loans in Turkey were housing loans

Citizens continue to buy housing. As of the first quarter of the year, ₺277.7 billion of housing loans were withdrawn from banks. 32.1% of the personal loan amount was housing loan.

Citizens’ trust in real estate is increasing day by day. Bank loan statistics were added to the positive increase in housing sales data. Lutfi Elvan, Minister of Treasury and Finance, also stated that as of the first quarter of the year, the housing loan drawn by bank customers was determined as ₺277.7 billion, vehicle loans ₺13.7 billion and consumer loans ₺412.5 billion, a total of ₺703.9 billion. Pointing out that 32.1% of the stock retail loan amount as of March 2021 is housing loans, Minister Elvan added that 1.6% is vehicle, 47.7% is consumer goods and 18.6% is credit card receivables. Treasury and Finance Minister Lutfi Elvan responded to the parliamentary question addressed to the citizens who owe banks, the amount of debt and the number of follow-ups. Minister Elvan’s responses to the motion revealed that the record in loans drawn from banks was in housing loans. Stating that the number of housing loan customers was 2 million 382 thousand and the loan amount was ₺164 billion 850 million in December 2016, Minister Elvan noted that the number of housing loan customers was 2 million 565 thousand 104 in March 2021.

29 MILLION CREDIT CARD OWNERS

Stating that the amount of stock credit card receivables (including non-performing) of banks as of March 2021 is ₺160.4 billion, Minister Elvan stated that the number of stock credit card customers (including non-performing) is 29.1 million. Minister Elvan also stated that as of March 2021, housing loans drawn by bank customers were determined as ₺277.7 billion, vehicle loans ₺13.7 billion and consumer loans ₺412.5 billion, totaling ₺703.9 billion.

47.7% PERSONAL FINANCE CREDIT

Pointing out that 32.1% of the stock retail loan amount as of March 2021 is housing loans, Minister Elvan added that 1.6% is vehicle, 47.7% is personal finance credits and 18.6% is credit card receivables.
