According to the data of the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, a total of 13 million 372 thousand 526 tourists visited the city in the 10 months of this year.
While Istanbul hosted 1 million 584 thousand 692 tourists in October of this year, it was calculated that 1 million 152 thousand 771 people came to the city in the same month of last year. Accordingly, the number of tourists in October increased by 431 thousand 921 people compared to the same month of 2021.
Thus, it was determined that the number of tourists hosted this October increased by 37% compared to last year.
In October, 1 million 538 thousand 452 people reached the city by air and 46 thousand 240 people reached the city by sea. Compared to last year, those arriving in Istanbul by air increased by 34%, and those arriving by sea increased by 1033%.
1919 people from Ataturk Airport, 445 thousand 996 people from Sabiha Gokven Airport and 1 million 90 thousand 537 people from Istanbul Airport entered Istanbul in October.
1803 foreign visitors arrived in the city from Tuzla Port, 37,727 foreign visitors from Karakoy Port, 4,350 foreign visitors from Sarayburnu Port and 1047 foreign visitors from Zeytinburnu Port. 179 foreign visitors arrived in the city from Ambarli Port, 1060 from Haydarpasa Port, 33 from Marmara Port and 41 from Pendik Port.
68.82% of the tourists coming to the city used Istanbul Airport, and 28.14% used Sabiha Gokcen Airport.
Russians in the first place in the number of tourists in October
As in the previous month, the Russians took the first place among the tourists who came to Istanbul with 185 thousand 339 people this month.
Russia was followed by Germany with 116 thousand 219 tourists, Iran with 94 thousand 579 tourists, the USA with 72 thousand 428 tourists, England with 62 thousand 510 tourists, France with 55 thousand 389 tourists, and Saudi Arabia with 48 thousand 999 tourists. Italy with 40 thousand 788 tourists, Israel with 40 thousand 108 tourists, Iraq with 33 thousand 691 tourists, Uzbekistan with 31 thousand 740 tourists, Spain with 29 thousand 172 tourists, Jordan with 28 thousand 676 tourists, Morocco with 27 thousand 624 tourists, and India with 26 thousand 995 tourists.
