Sakarya, which ranks 7th in exports after Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Izmir, Ankara, and Gaziantep, exported $1,882,096,000 worth of goods to 137 countries and 10 free zones in the January-April period.
Increasing its foreign sales by 5.8% compared to the same period last year, Sakarya took the lead in exports with 87.7% in automotive.
According to the Automotive Industry Association data, out of 492,471 vehicles produced in Turkey in the first 4 months of the year, 338,441 were exported.
With an 18.1% share in the export pie, out of the 85,991 vehicles produced in Sakarya in the January-April period, 61,581 were sent abroad, equivalent to 71.6%. In other words, Sakarya, which exports 7 out of every 10 vehicles it produces, contributed $1,652,121,000 to the country’s economy.
Toyota maintained its leadership in production and exports. Hosting manufacturers such as Toyota, Otokar, and TürkTraktör, Sakarya produced a total of 85,991 vehicles in the January-April period, including 67,760 automobiles, 707 minibusses, 537 buses, 279 small trucks, and 16,708 tractors. Thus, 711 vehicles were taken off the production line daily in the city.
During this period, Toyota led in production and exports, followed by TürkTraktör in second place and Otokar in third.
Producing Corolla, Toyota C-HR, and the new generation Corolla Hybrid models in its factory in Arifiye district, Toyota exported 55,283 out of the 67,760 passenger cars it produced.
While Otokar exported 638 out of the 1523 vehicles it produced, TürkTraktör sold 5,660 out of 16,708 tractors, accounting for 33.8%.
