Sales of $13 billion 695 million 361 thousand were made to the European Union (EU) countries, which received a 64.55% share from the exports of the Turkish automotive industry in the first 9 months of the year.
According to the information compiled from the records of Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association and Turkish Exporters’ Assembly, the sector, which exports to more than 190 countries, autonomous and free zones in the January-September period, has achieved an export of $21 billion 248 million 339 thousand with an increase of 24% compared to the same months of the previous year.
The automotive industry received a 13.2% share of Turkey’s exports in the first 9 months of 2021.
20% INCREASE IN EXPORTS TO EU COUNTRIES
On the basis of countries group, EU countries ranked first in Turkey’s automotive exports with a share of 64.5% in the January-September period of this year.
$13 billion 695 million 361 thousand were exported to these countries in 9 months, an increase of 20% compared to the same period of the previous year. EU countries maintained their position as the most important market in automotive exports.
Foreign sales to the “Other European countries” group, which the United Kingdom is included in after leaving the EU, reached $2 billion 603 million 217 thousand with an increase of 52%.
$3 BILLION EXPORT TO MAIN MARKET GERMANY
Looking at the countries to which the most exports were made in January-September 2021, Germany, the main market of the Turkish automotive industry, drew attention as the country to which the most automotive exports were made, with an increase of approximately 25% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Automotive exports from Turkey to Germany, which were $2 billion 459 million 348 thousand in 9 months last year, increased to $3 billion 73 million 428 thousand in the same period of this year.
France, the second main market, followed Germany with an increase of 22%. In the first 9 months of 2020, $1 billion 921 million 964 thousand of automotive exports were made to France, and in the same period of 2021, $2 billion 353 million 373 thousand were exported.
The United Kingdom is the 3rd with a 63% increase and $2 billion 237 million 471 thousand, Italy is the 4th with a 31% increase and $1 billion 744 million 398 thousand, Spain is the 5th with a 25% increase and $1 billion 143 million 478 thousand.
