Signatures were signed for a new era in public transportation used by millions of people in Istanbul. Within the scope of BELBİM-Mastercard cooperation, signatures were signed between BELBİM and Mastercard in order to make payments with credit, debit and prepaid cards, which provide contactless payment services in public transportation vehicles used by Istanbul residents.
According to the statement made by Mastercard, the project is not limited to other credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards being valid in transportation. The second leg of the project will be activated, following the ability to pay with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in public transportation.
In addition to being able to pay with credit, debit and prepaid cards in transportation, Istanbulkarts with the Mastercard logo, which will be available in 2023, will be valid in all domestic and international payment networks.
Istanbulkarts with the Mastercard logo will be used for payments on all domestic and international e-commerce sites. With the physical Istanbulkarts with the Mastercard logo, which will be made available in the coming days, payments can be made at all domestic and international payment points.
Istanbulkart with the Mastercard logo, which will also be offered to students, will be compatible with discounted transportation tariffs, transfers and refunds in distance-based fees.
