Companies affiliated with the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) generated $7.709 billion in exports between January and May 2026, marking a 1.9% increase compared with the same period last year, according to data released by the organization.
In May alone, exports from EIB members totaled $1.557 billion. Despite a monthly slowdown, the association reported continued resilience in foreign demand, particularly from key international markets.
Speaking on the latest figures, Muhammet Öztürk said demand from the European Union and the United States remains strong, with exporters receiving positive signals from both of the region’s largest overseas markets. He expressed confidence that export performance would regain momentum in June and stated that EIB aims to surpass $19 billion in annual exports.
Öztürk also highlighted changing global market conditions that could benefit Turkish exporters. Rising product prices in China and lower capacity utilization rates there are creating new competitive opportunities for Türkiye, especially as European and American buyers increasingly seek alternative suppliers. Türkiye’s manufacturing capabilities and logistical advantages are becoming more attractive under these conditions, he said.
According to additional EIB data, the organization’s exports over the last 12 months reached approximately $18.65 billion, while the broader Aegean Region recorded $2.58 billion in exports during May. Industrial exports led performance, while agricultural exports experienced a decline during the month.
