
The Agricultural Input Price Index (Agriculture-GFE) in Türkiye rose by 30.49% year-on-year and 5.89% month-on-month in January. This marked the highest monthly increase in a year, while the annual rise dropped to its lowest level since June 2023.
According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the index increased by 5.89% compared to the previous month and by 30.49% year-on-year in January.
The yearly Agriculture-GFE rate was recorded at its lowest level in 19 months, while the monthly increase was the highest in a year.
Breakdown of Agricultural Input Price Increases
Among the main categories, the index for inputs used in agriculture increased by 5.95% month-on-month, while the index for goods and services contributing to agricultural investment rose by 5.56%. On a yearly basis, these categories increased by 29.02% and 39.58%, respectively.
According to the annual Agriculture-GFE, seven subcategories showed lower changes, while four recorded higher changes.
- The lowest yearly increases were recorded in energy and lubricants (21.43%) and agricultural chemicals (21.66%).
- The highest yearly increases were in seeds and planting materials (50.09%) and other goods and services (49.13%).
According to the monthly Agriculture-GFE, seven subcategories showed lower changes, while four recorded higher changes.
- The lowest monthly increases were recorded in building maintenance costs (1.96%) and agricultural chemicals (2.15%).
- The highest monthly increases were seen in veterinary expenses (32.87%) and other goods and services (19.79%).
The data reflects continued price pressures on agricultural production, with notable increases in essential input costs such as seeds, veterinary services, and general agricultural expenses.
