Airbus inaugurates research center in China

‘Research will be undertaken in manufacturing innovation, hydrogen infrastructure, cabin experience, and new technologies,’ Airbus says

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus has set up a research center in China’s western Suzhou city.

“The center will take advantage of the highly skilled aviation and hydrogen know-how already established in the Yangtze River Delta region. Research will be undertaken in manufacturing innovation, hydrogen infrastructure, cabin experience, and new technologies,”an Airbus statement said.

Sabine Klauke, the company’s chief technical officer, said that China offers “many advanced technological advantages in many fields.”

“Airbus is working with partners and with China in particular to nurture technologies, discovering different resources, introducing alternative fuels, and developing the hydrogen ecosystem as we work towards sustainable aviation,” Klauke said.

The statement said that the opening of the new facility “reaffirms Airbus’ long-term commitment to develop and invest in China and further expands the Company’s footprint in the country, underlining its position as a reliable partner to China.”
