Airline passengers increased by 69% in the first 6 months of this year

Airports Council International (ACI) announced that there was a 69% increase in the number of passengers using the airline in the first 6 months of this year.

Speaking at the ACI annual congress held in Marrakech, Morocco on October 22-28, Council President Luis Felipe de Oliveira announced that the number of people traveling by air in the first 6 months of this year has reached 3 billion.

Oliveira pointed out that the increase was attributed to the bookings in the summer of 2022, which occurred after two years of restrictions due to COVID-19.

Saying that passengers using airlines increased by 69% in the first half of the year, Oliveira expressed his year-end forecast as “The number of passengers worldwide may reach 6 billion 800 million by the end of this year.”

The travel industry was one of the most affected areas in 2020 due to COVID-19. The effects of this are expected to last until 2026, according to estimates from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
