Akbank expands its Akbank+ initiative, supporting employee entrepreneurship with a focus on data-driven solutions for gaming studios.
Akbank recently concluded the successful second phase of its Akbank+ program by investing $400,000 in Metriqus, an artificial intelligence-based analytics platform catering to gaming studios. This investment brings Akbank’s total commitment to employee entrepreneurial projects to $1.4 million. Operating under the Akbank LAB innovation center, the Akbank+ program continues to empower its employees to launch innovative ventures.
During its second phase, the program funded Metriqus, which enhances marketing strategies for mobile game studios through data-driven insights. This initiative aligns with Akbank LAB’s mission to foster an innovation culture both within the bank and across its ecosystem. Akbank+ attracted over 400 applications from Akbank employees in its latest round, with selected entrepreneurs developing their projects within Akbank LAB for over six months. Metriqus emerged following rigorous evaluation by the Akbank+ Investment Committee.
Burcu Civelek Yüce, Deputy General Manager of Retail Banking and Digital Solutions at Akbank, stated, “With the Akbank+ program, we enable Akbank employees to embark on entrepreneurial journeys. We provide comprehensive support in education, mentorship, product development, and investment, empowering them to innovate meaningfully. Following last year’s investments in circular economy and electric mobility, we are delighted to crown this year with an analytic-focused investment, reinforcing Turkey’s innovation ecosystem with innovative solutions.”
Pınar Anapa, Deputy General Manager of Human Resources and Culture at Akbank, added, “We encourage Akbank employees to become entrepreneurs, fostering creativity and turning their ideas into reality. We embark on a comprehensive development journey to enhance their competencies and expertise, standing by them as they bring new perspectives to the business world. Congratulations to Metriqus, our first venture this year and the third spin-off overall.”
