An exorbitant price increase was detected in approximately 45 thousand houses for sale and rental in Turkiye

In the exorbitant price inspections carried out throughout the country after the earthquake, the Revenue Administration determined 37,367 ads for sale and 7,363 rental houses, which increased prices.

Revenue Administration President (GIB) Bekir Bayrakdar stated that they have taken the necessary measures against those who abuse the current situation in the earthquake region and said, “In this context, we carry out road inspections, especially on intercity connection roads, from the first days of the earthquake disaster.”

Stating that they are fighting against those who want to take advantage of the situation of citizens who were damaged by the earthquake in the rest facilities on these roads, Bayrakdar said, “On the other hand, we also carry out inspections on issues such as transporting goods in earthquake zones and elevator services for goods.”

Personnel was assigned to the earthquake zone for exorbitant prices

Bayrakdar pointed out that the Revenue Administration, by assigning personnel from other provinces to the earthquake zone, inspects factors such as exorbitant prices and compliance with the document order, and used the following statements:

“Our state provides rent assistance to our citizens who were damaged by the earthquake. Some of our citizens can leave the region and rent housing in other provinces. We closely follow the price movements in the provinces where our citizens move, both for rent and for sale. According to the first data we obtained in this context throughout the country, we identified 37,367 for sale and 7,363 rental housing advertisements, which increased their prices after the earthquake date. We will share the results of our efforts for exorbitant prices with the Ministry of Commerce for evaluation during the inspections we will carry out in the field.”

Making a call to the citizens in this regard, Bayrakdar said, “In order for the citizens not to experience any grievances, they can complain to us about the shortcomings they see in these matters, either through applications such as CIMER, VIMER, or by calling ALO 189.”

No foreclosures made since the earthquake

Bayrakdar pointed out that there are “completely unfounded” posts on some social media platforms, which are clearly understood to cause public indignation, and that the aid provided by the state to the disaster victims has been confiscated by the tax offices.

“First of all, let me state that the tax offices have not made any foreclosures since the earthquake occurred for the collection of public receivables. In addition, all enforcement proceedings, including those made by the tax offices, have been stopped with the Presidential Decree. Regarding the liens placed before the earthquake date, I would like to point out the following. The lien requests sent to the banks by the tax offices are applied to the assets at the time they are sent, and have no effect on the money deposited in the accounts later on. For this reason, since no lien is made after the earthquake date, even if there is a lien on the account before, this lien does not affect the earthquake aids made by the state.

In this context, regardless of the legal dimension of the issue and the nature of the action taken, there are posts and news such as “the aid provided by the state is being confiscated” to the earthquake victims. We believe that our citizens will not respect such posts, which means ignoring all the work and transactions our state has done for its citizens on this sad day.”
