Ankara Chamber of Industry Signs Cooperation Protocol with Tunisia’s Sfax Chamber

The Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO) has signed a cooperation protocol with the Sfax Chamber of Commerce and Industry aimed at strengthening economic and trade relations between Türkiye and Tunisia.

Focus on Trade and Investment

The agreement was signed by ASO President Seyit Ardıç and Sfax Chamber President Habib Hammami, in the presence of Tunisia’s Ambassador to Ankara, Ahmed Ben Sghaier.

The protocol aims to:

  • Strengthen bilateral economic ties
  • Increase mutual investment opportunities
  • Establish stronger communication and cooperation between the two institutions

Boosting Bilateral Economic Relations

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ardıç emphasized that the agreement represents not only institutional cooperation but also a step toward deepening long-standing economic relations between the two countries.

He noted that trade volumes remain below potential, citing that Türkiye’s exports to Tunisia reached approximately $1.2 billion, while imports stood at $346 million in 2025.

Strategic Cooperation Areas

The partnership is expected to open new opportunities across several sectors, including:

  • Machinery and manufacturing
  • Textiles
  • Food processing
  • Renewable energy
  • Information technologies

Officials also highlighted Tunisia’s strategic position as a gateway to broader African markets, making the agreement significant for expanding joint business activities on the continent.

Strengthening Regional Presence

Ambassador Ben Sghaier stated that the agreement would give new momentum to economic cooperation, while Hammami underlined that it would contribute to economic development in both countries and strengthen their joint presence in African markets.

The protocol is also expected to encourage increased business delegations, direct meetings between companies, and joint investment and technology projects.
