
Ankara Achieves $8.8 Billion in Exports in First 7 Months of 2025
Ankara has recorded a strong performance in foreign trade, achieving approximately $8.77 billion in exports during the first seven months of 2025. This marks a 15.4% increase compared to the same period last year, when the capital city had exported $7.6 billion worth of goods.
According to data compiled by Anadolu Agency from the Ministry of Trade and the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Ankara contributed significantly to Turkey’s overall export record, with the country reaching a monthly high of nearly $25 billion in exports in July alone.
July Exports from Ankara Hit $1.65 Billion
In July, Ankara exported $1.65 billion, continuing its upward momentum in foreign sales. Over the January–July period, the city consistently outperformed 2024 levels.
China Leads Among Top Export Markets
Ankara’s exports were shipped to a wide array of countries, with China emerging as the top destination for the January–July 2025 period, receiving $612.98 million worth of goods. The top five export destinations were:
- China – $612.98 million
- United Kingdom – $591.21 million
- Germany – $574.70 million
- United States – $564.30 million
- Slovakia – $369.52 million
Chemicals Sector Tops Export Rankings
The chemicals and chemical products sector led Ankara’s exports with $950.4 million, followed closely by:
- Automotive industry – $942.88 million
- Machinery and components – $870.80 million
- Electrical and electronics – $721.57 million
- Mining products – $715.54 million
These five sectors formed the backbone of the capital’s export economy over the seven-month period.
Ship and Yacht Services Sector Posts Biggest Growth
In terms of percentage growth, the ship and yacht services sector saw the most significant increase, rising by a staggering 597.7%. Other high-performing sectors included:
- Jewelry – up 73.6%
- Grains, pulses, oilseeds, and related products – up 37.3%
- Electrical and electronics – up 22.6%
The substantial gains in these sectors highlight Ankara’s growing export diversification and its increasing role in both traditional and high-value-added industries.
Critical Technologies Also on the Rise
Notably, Turkey as a whole has exported $52 billion worth of “critical technologies” in the first half of 2025, pointing to a nationwide shift toward high-tech and strategic exports—a trend in which Ankara plays an essential part.
Ankara’s strong export growth reflects both regional industrial capabilities and national trade policies aimed at boosting competitiveness and tapping into global markets.
