Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoglu announced that the number of passengers hosted at the airports in the January-April period increased by 32.4% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 54 million 679 thousand.
In his written statement, Karaismailoglu stated that in April, air traffic increased by 9% to 66 thousand 415 in domestic flights, and to 59 thousand 661 with an increase of 25% in international flights.
Karaismailoglu stated that the total aircraft traffic increased by 17.4% with the overpasses and reached 163 thousand 804, “Domestic passenger traffic at our airports has reached 7 million 61 thousand, international passenger traffic has reached 8 million 595 thousand. Thus, we served a total of 15 million 696 thousand passengers, including direct transit passengers, in the month in question. Compared to the month of the previous year, passenger traffic increased by 31% on domestic lines and 37.2% on international lines, and total passenger traffic including direct transit increased by 34.2%.”
Karaismailoglu stated that while 40 thousand 734 aircraft traffic took place at Istanbul Airport in April, a total of 5 million 985 thousand passengers were hosted, and that the aircraft traffic at Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport was 17 thousand 877, and 2 million 763 thousand passengers were served.
Air traffic increased by 25.7% in the January-April period.
Pointing out that in the January-April period, the aircraft traffic increased by 20.5% to 259 thousand 725 in domestic lines and to 200 thousand 144 with an increase of 30% in international lines, Karaismailoglu said that with the overpasses, the total aircraft traffic increased by 25.7% and reached 600 thousand 354.
Karaismailoglu pointed out that 25 million 816 thousand passengers were served on domestic flights and 28 million 788 thousand passengers on international lines during the said period, “The number of passengers hosted at the airports in the January-April period increased by 32.4% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 54 million 679 thousand. In the same period, freight traffic reached 1 million 122 thousand tons in total, including 241 thousand 628 tons on domestic lines and 880 thousand 638 tons on international lines.
Stating that 154 thousand 579 aircraft traffic took place at Istanbul Airport in the January-April period, Karaismailoglu stated that a total of 22 million 515 thousand passengers were served.
Karaismailoglu stated that a total of 68 thousand 466 aircraft traffic took place at Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport in the four-month period, and 10 million 685 thousand passengers were served.
