Arçelik Begins Production at Its $78 Million Singer Factory in Bangladesh

Arçelik has officially started production at its massive manufacturing facility in Bangladesh under the Singer brand. The large-scale factory, which was initiated in 2022 in the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone, was built with a $78 million investment on a 135,000-square-meter area. With this latest development, Arçelik, which entered the Bangladesh market in 2019, has completed its most significant investment in the country.

Koç Holding’s Arçelik has launched operations at this facility, which is expected to create employment for approximately 4,000 people. The company now operates 30 production facilities across nine countries worldwide.

$600 Million Investment in South Asia

South Asia plays a crucial role in global growth strategies due to its strategic location, young and dynamic workforce, and rapid urbanization. Over the past decade, Beko has invested nearly $600 million in the region, with Bangladesh at the center of its expansion plans.

Sustainability Principles Prioritized in Production

The newly opened factory, built with a strong focus on sustainability, will manufacture refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, air conditioners, and other major home appliances. With an annual production capacity of 1.5 million units, the facility will boost Singer’s production capacity and strengthen its competitive position in the domestic market. Initially, production will cater to the local market, but future plans include exports to neighboring countries.

Singer Bangladesh currently operates 385 stores and has a distribution network of over 700 wholesale dealers, making it the country’s largest home appliance retail network.

Singer has been active in the region since 1905, selling home appliances under its own and other brands. In 2019, Arçelik made headlines globally with its acquisition of Singer Bangladesh.
