Arçelik Maintains Global Leadership in Environmental and Sustainability Performance

Arçelik continues to achieve global success in the fields of environmental responsibility and sustainability, ranking prominently across leading international sustainability indices and assessments.

According to a statement from the company, Arçelik remains focused on reducing its carbon footprint, increasing energy efficiency and strengthening its renewable energy capacity across operations. These efforts have enabled the company to secure high positions in several global sustainability rankings.

Arçelik was included for the sixth time in the Global 100 – World’s Most Sustainable Companies list published by media and research company Corporate Knights. The company rose 23 places year-on-year to rank 45th globally and secured first place within the Durable Household Products Industry.

In addition, Arçelik received an “A” rating for the second consecutive year in both Climate Change and Water Security categories from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), placing the company among global leaders in environmental transparency and performance.

Corporate Knights evaluates more than 8,000 publicly listed companies with revenues exceeding USD 1 billion based on three core performance indicators: sustainable revenue, sustainable investment and growth momentum. Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance serves as a minimum threshold for inclusion in the assessment.

CDP, meanwhile, conducts comparative global analyses of corporate impacts in critical areas such as climate change, water security and deforestation, assessing governance structures, risk and opportunity management, science-based targets and measurable environmental outcomes. The “A” rating represents the highest level of leadership in transparency and performance.

Seventh Consecutive Year as Industry Leader

In the 2025 S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment, Arçelik scored 86 out of 100 among 79 companies, earning the highest score in the Consumer Durables Sector for the seventh consecutive year.

The company also ranked first on Real Leaders’ 2025 Top Impact Companies list, which recognizes businesses making the greatest contributions to environmental and social impact.

Arçelik placed 17th on TIME magazine’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies list, published in collaboration with Statista, which evaluated 5,700 companies worldwide and ranked the top 500. The company maintained its position in the Retail, Wholesale and Consumer Products category and ranked first among companies from Türkiye.

Arçelik continues to be listed on the Borsa Istanbul Sustainability Index and was also included in the BIST Sustainability 25 Index, reflecting its strong ESG performance as assessed by the London Stock Exchange Group.

Furthermore, Arçelik earned a score of 82 in the 2025 EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment, placing it in the top 3% of evaluated companies and earning the EcoVadis Gold Medal for its performance in environmental protection, human and labor rights, and sustainable procurement.

CEO Commentary

Commenting on the achievements, Arçelik CEO Hakan Bulgurlu said the company places sustainability at the core of all its operations, from manufacturing and product design to investment decisions, recognizing its responsibility in addressing the climate crisis.

“We are leading the sustainability transformation in our sector through tangible applications based on circular economy principles,” Bulgurlu said, noting that Arçelik is progressing steadily toward its net-zero target by 2050, approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Highlighting the operational impact of these efforts, Bulgurlu stated: “We achieved energy savings of 59,901 GJ in our production processes and prevented 5,800 tons of CO₂e emissions through efficiency projects. Today, low-carbon products account for 71.5% of our total revenue, with energy-efficient products representing a significant share.”

Bulgurlu added that in 2024, Arçelik used 27,835 tons of recycled plastic in its products, returned 1.86 million waste electrical and electronic devices to the economy, reached 90.2 MW of installed renewable energy capacity, and extended the lifespan of more than 114,000 products through its global refurbishment network.

Environmental investments and expenditures exceeded TRY 6 billion in 2024, Bulgurlu said, concluding: “These evaluations by globally respected organizations such as Corporate Knights and CDP demonstrate that our approach is recognized internationally. We will continue to make environmental and social responsibility an integral part of how we do business by using resources efficiently.”
