ATO President Baran: We are ready to increase trade with Kosovo to billions of dollars

Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Chairman of the Board of Directors Gursel Baran stated that despite all the developments, the trade between Turkey and Kosovo is not at the desired level, “The trade between our countries is still at the level of million dollars. As ATO, we are ready to do whatever we can to bring our trade to the billion-dollar level as soon as possible.”

According to the statement made by the ATO, the Minister of Regional Development of Kosovo and Chairman of the Democratic Turkish Party Fikrim Damka visited ATO President Baran.

In his speech here, Baran stated that the Balkans, including Kosovo, has a special importance in terms of Turkey’s economic and political policies, “Kosovo’s independence and economic development, Turkey’s path to Europe, form the basis of peace and stability in the Balkans.”

Pointing out that despite the geographical proximity, the density of the Turkish population and the intention to develop relations, the trade between Kosovo and Turkey could not reach the desired level, Baran said:

“The trade between our countries is still at the level of million dollars. It is not possible to be satisfied with this figure. As ATO, we are ready to do whatever we can to bring our trade to the billion-dollar level as soon as possible.”

Call to business people from Ankara

Damka also stated that they are working to make the development of Kosovo fast and solid and that they see Turkey on their side in this process.

Inviting business people from Ankara to invest in Kosovo, Damka explained that if investments are made in industrial zones and free zones, Kosovo can be considered as a base and exports can be made easily to European countries and the USA.

Damka stated that support, including the allocation of space, is provided to those who want to invest in their country.
