According to the report, the total market for automobiles and light commercial vehicles decreased by 8.5% in the January-August 2022 period compared to the same period of the previous year, and became 458 thousand 446. In the January-August period of 2022, automobile sales decreased by 9.4% to 354 thousand 543 units, while the light commercial vehicle market contracted by 5.2% to 103 thousand 903 units.
Looking at the month of August, the automobile and light commercial vehicle market shrank by 17.3%, the automobile market by 21.3%, and the light commercial vehicle market by 4.3%. In August, the automobile and light commercial vehicle market decreased by 17.3% compared to August 2021 and reached 48,336 units. In August, automobile sales decreased by 21.3% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 35,230, while the light commercial vehicle market decreased by 4.3% to 13,106.
The automobile and light commercial vehicle market shrank by 18.2% compared to the 10-year average sales in August. Segment based sales
88.3% of the market consisted of vehicles in the A, B and C segments with low tax rates. C segment cars had a 49.7% share with 176,358 units, and B-segment cars had a 38% share with 134,896 units.
SUV ranks first in body types
When evaluated according to body types, the most preferred body type SUV cars in the market (40.2% share, 142,559 units). SUV cars; Sedan followed with 36.9% share and 130,856 sales, and H/B automobiles with 20.8% share and 73,840 sales.
Gasoline preference continued
When the automobile market is evaluated by engine type, gasoline automobile sales have a 70.6% share with 250,401 units, diesel automobile sales have a 17% share with 60,316 units, hybrid automobile sales have a 9.7% share with 34,265 units, and autogas automobile sales have a 1.8% share with 6,278 units. 3,283 electric cars were sold.
The share of automatic vehicles is 77.7%
In this period, cars with automatic transmission; Cars with manual transmission took a share of 77.7% with 275 thousand 308 units, while cars with manual transmission took a 22.3% share with 79 thousand 235 units.
In the light commercial vehicle market, according to the body type; While the van body type was the most preferred body type with a share of 74.4% and 77,310 units, the van body type took the second place with a share of 13.5% and 14,020 units.
