Aydin-Denizli Highway will reduce the travel time to 1 hour 15 minutes: Minister of Transport

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoglu made good wishes about the Aydin-Denizli Highway, the last link that will establish an uninterrupted motorway network starting from Kapikule and crossing the Marmara and Aegean Regions to the Mediterranean, at the ground-breaking ceremony held at the Denizli Salihaga Junction for the Aydin-Denizli Highway.

Karaismailoglu stated that the ministry has brought every point of the country closer to each other, reformed projects in land, air, sea and railways by raising the country’s transportation for 18 years in line with the vision of President Erdgoan.

Karaismailoglu reminded that they have completed a circular road network in the Marmara Region and that they will open the 1915 Dardanelles Bridge in the beginning of 2022. Emphasizing that they connect the Eurasia Region to important trade and travel routes, Karaismailoglu stated that they have made all regions and cities of the country suitable for development with their road projects.

‘’Turkey is a great country and has a very bright future.’’

Reminding that a vehicle coming from any city in Europe will reach the centre of Denizli from uninterrupted highways, Karaismailoglu said:

‘’Turkey is a great country and has a very bright future. We continue our bold and determined steps uninterruptedly in line with our vision to be among the top 10 economies of the world. We have to complete our transportation and communication moves in the fastest way that will support our great goals in the field of economy. New trade routes in the north-south and east-west axis, where our country is located, give us the opportunity to have a playmaking role. It is only a matter of time before we become a logistics superpower in the region and dominate world trade in the geography at the heart of the New Silk Road.

We spent ₺563.4 billion for highways in 18 years. We increased the length of the divided road, which we took over from 6 thousand 100 kilometres, to over 27 thousand 700 kilometres. By connecting almost all the cities with divided roads, we increased the tunnel length from 50 kilometres to 600 kilometres.’’

The total length of bridges and viaducts, which was 311 kilometres, reached 680 kilometres, and the highway network, which was 1714 kilometres, reached 3325 kilometres with 1611 kilometres built in the last 18 years.

He explained that the success of these projects, which they implemented with the Build-Operate-Transfer method, gave confidence to the investors for their future work.

‘’Transportation to tourism centres will be much easier.’’

Karaismailoglu, stated that the added value Denizli produces as an industry, trade, agriculture and export centre will meet Aydin, which is also founded on fertile land, thanks to this highway.

‘’Both of these provinces are the leading tourism centres of our country as well as agricultural and industrial production. The transportation infrastructure of our region, which is the transit point of touristic traffic, has been significantly strengthened with the Istanbul-Izmir Motorway and Izmir-Aydin Motorway. Now, the transportation of industrial and agricultural products will be ensured in a shorter time through Denizli to Izmir Port, which is the most important export centre of the region, and transportation to important tourism centres such as Pamukkale, Ephesus, Didim and Kusadasi will be made even easier. With the completion of the motorway, the travel time on the route will decrease from 2 hours 15 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, a total of ₺614 million will be saved annually.

Hopefully, this project, which we are planning to complete in these 2 years, will increase the importance of Denizli, which is a crossroads between the Aegean, the Mediterranean and Central Anatolia, and its contribution to the country’s economy. Aydin-Denizli Highway will have a total length of 163 km, including 140 km of a 2×3 lane main road and 23 km of a 2×2 lane connection road. Within the scope of the project, 19 bridge intersections, 19 viaducts and 5 highway service facilities will be built. ‘’

Adil Karaismailoglu added that they will show every effort and determination as a nation and in solidarity in order to achieve the goals they set for the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic.

After the speeches, the foundation of the highway construction was laid. Denizli Governor Ali Fuat Atik, Aydin Governor Huseyin Aksoy, General Director of Highways Abdulkadir Uraloglu also attended the ceremony.
