As part of its ongoing mobility partnership with Ayvens Turkey, AstraZeneca Turkey is set to replace 169 additional vehicles in its fleet with electric models, aligning with the company’s global sustainability goals.
According to a statement from AstraZeneca Turkey, Ayvens—formed from the global merger of mobility solutions provider ALD Automotive and leasing firm LeasePlan—is continuing its efforts to electrify AstraZeneca’s fleet as part of a broader commitment to environmental sustainability.
To date, Ayvens has converted 299 of AstraZeneca Turkey’s vehicles to electric models. The new transition will bring the total to 468, with 169 vehicles currently undergoing conversion.
With operations in 42 countries and more than 14,000 employees, Ayvens manages a fleet of 3.2 million vehicles, including 636,000 electric vehicles, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable mobility.
“Five Percent of Global Greenhouse Gas Emissions Come from the Healthcare System”
In the statement, Serkan Barış, Country President of AstraZeneca Turkey, emphasized the company’s goal to become carbon-negative across its entire supply chain by 2030, as part of its “Zero Carbon Commitment.”
Barış noted that AstraZeneca aims to be more than a pharmaceutical company through its sustainability efforts. “We recognize that our future depends on healthy people, a healthy society, and a healthy planet. That’s why we put sustainability at the heart of our operations, define our responsibilities in this area, and take decisive action,” he said.
He further pointed out that 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions originate from the healthcare sector, and that climate change presents emerging risks to health systems. “There is an urgent need for all stakeholders in healthcare to take bold steps for the health of society and the planet,” he added.
Barış also underlined that the strategic collaboration with Ayvens has accelerated their goal of transitioning their entire fleet in Turkey to fully electric vehicles. “We view our environmental responsibilities as inseparable from our broader responsibilities to society and the planet,” he said.
Highlighting the company’s efforts to minimize its environmental footprint and eliminate carbon emissions, Barış noted, “We began our transition by switching our head office fleet to hybrid vehicles in 2022. We have now taken this a step further and plan to complete the transition this year. As a result, our fleet of over 500 vehicles will operate exclusively with electric models. We will continue advancing on our sustainability journey with determination, leveraging technology and upholding our commitment to the planet, humanity, and future generations.”

Türkay Oktay, Country General Manager of Ayvens Turkey, emphasized that transitioning to electric vehicles is one of the most critical steps in sustainable mobility.
