As part of an illegal betting investigation, the dividend-excluded shareholder rights of BankPozitif’s 79% stake, owned by Pay Fix Elektronik Para ve Odeme Hizmetleri A.S., have been transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF). Türkiye is shaken by a new illegal betting network, with the majority stake of the bank at the center of the operation now under TMSF’s control.
According to the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency’s (BDDK) decision dated March 17, 2025, numbered 11176, it was determined that, in line with investigations carried out by judicial authorities, the 79% stake of BankPozitif Kredi ve Kalkinma Bankasi A.S. (Bank) owned by Pay Fix Elektronik Para ve Odeme Hizmetleri A.S. would be subject to TMSF’s control, excluding dividend rights, under Article 18, Paragraph 5 of Banking Law No. 5411.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has been investigating an illegal betting organization, leading to a detention order for Erkan Kork, the owner of BankPozitif, Flash TV, and Payfix Payment Institution, on allegations of being the leader of the illegal betting network. During the operation, authorities raided 59 suspects and seized assets worth 6.9 billion TL. As a result, BankPozitif, Flash TV, and Payfix have come under state control.
