Banks’ Loan Volume in Turkiye Hits ₺12.8 Trillion, Surging by ₺7.666 Billion in a Week

The loan volume of the banking sector increased by ₺7 billion 666 million in the week of April 5, reaching ₺12 trillion 884 billion 459 million.

According to the weekly bulletin published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), the sector’s credit volume increased by ₺7 billion 666 million as of April 5.

During the said period, total credit volume increased from ₺12 trillion 876 billion 793 million to ₺12 trillion 884 billion 459 million.

Total deposits in the banking sector, including interbanks, decreased by ₺52 billion 58 million in the week of April 5, falling to ₺15 trillion 409 billion 260 million.

The amount of consumer loans reached ₺1 trillion 613.8 billion

According to the data, the amount of consumer loans decreased by ₺9 billion 738 million to ₺1 trillion 613 billion 764 million as of April 5. Of these loans, ₺445 billion 626 million consisted of housing loans, ₺91 billion 994 million of vehicle loans and ₺1 trillion 76 billion 144 million of consumer loans.

During this period, the amount of installment commercial loans increased by ₺6 billion 379 million and reached ₺1 trillion 599 billion 167 million.

Banks’ individual credit card receivables also increased by 0.9%, reaching ₺1 trillion 389 billion 660 million. Of the individual credit card receivables, ₺604 billion 44 million were installment debts and ₺785 billion 616 million were non-installment debts.

Legal equities increased

As of April 5, non-performing receivables in the banking sector increased by ₺1 billion 314 million compared to the previous week, reaching ₺198 billion 857 million. Special provisions were allocated for ₺162 billion 632 million of non-performing receivables.

In the same period, the legal equity capital of the banking system increased by ₺15 billion 809 million and reached ₺2 trillion 755 billion 887 million.
