For the First Time, a Defense and Aerospace Company Secures a Spot in Turkiye’s Elite Exporter List
In a groundbreaking achievement, Baykar has solidified its position as one of Turkiye’s top 10 exporters, marking a historic first for a defense and aerospace company in the country. Baykar’s General Manager, Haluk Bayraktar, announced the milestone at the “Champions of Export” award ceremony hosted by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) at the Halic Congress Center, with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in attendance.
For the past three years, Baykar has been the undisputed leader in defense and aerospace exports, a fact highlighted by their latest accolade. President Erdogan personally presented the award to Haluk Bayraktar, acknowledging the company’s significant contribution to Turkiye’s export sector.
In a statement on social media platform X, Haluk Bayraktar expressed pride in Baykar’s achievements, noting that the company is not only a leader in defense and aerospace but also the world’s top exporter of high-tech unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). He recounted Baykar’s journey from its humble beginnings in the early 2000s with the 6-kilogram Bayraktar Mini UAV, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to research and development (R&D).
“Self-Funded Success: Baykar’s Path to Global Leadership”
Baykar’s rise to prominence was fueled by significant investments in R&D, conducted entirely with the company’s own resources. Bayraktar explained, “We believed in the transformative potential of UAVs on the battlefield and their future technological significance. This belief drove us to work tirelessly, confident that our efforts would spark a significant impact for our country.”
Starting with just a single drill, Baykar has grown into a family of 4,500 members. Their dedication paid off, as evidenced by the success of the Bayraktar TB2 UAV, which propelled them to export leadership. Now, Baykar is expanding its horizons with the Bayraktar AKINCI, having already secured export agreements with 34 countries.
Bayraktar highlighted their entirely self-funded project portfolio and the global recognition they have achieved. “We have become one of the world’s top 100 defense and aerospace companies. We are proud of our accomplishments, and this pride is shared with the nation that has continuously supported us.”
Looking forward, Baykar remains committed to advancing its innovative technologies. Their next ambitious goal is the Bayraktar KIZILELMA, a project that embodies the company’s vision for the future. “We will continue to work hard to benefit our nation and humanity,” Bayraktar concluded, underscoring Baykar’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of defense technology.
