Bicycle, moped (motorized bicycle) and motorcycle manufacturers in Turkiye exported to 130 countries in 2022.
According to the compilation made by the AA correspondent from the Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association data, the export sales of the sector, which was $141 million 526 thousand in the record-breaking 2021, were recorded as $141 million 282 thousand last year.
Sector representatives, who closed last year with figures close to 2021, exported the most to Europe, and Germany came first among these countries. Exports to this country increased by more than 30% compared to the previous year, from $17 million 406 thousand to $22 million 738 thousand.
Exports to France, which exports the most to France after Germany, increased by 20% from $17 million 314 thousand to $20 million 918 thousand.
In 2021, exports to Finland, which is in the third place, where $17 million 43 thousand of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles were sent, reached $18 million 226 thousand with an increase of close to 7%.
Significant increase in exports to Latvia, Portugal and the USA
While the first 15 countries in the export ranking of the sector representatives were European countries, the number of countries with an export value of more than $1 million was recorded as 19.
Bicycle, moped and motorcycle manufacturers sold $17 million 571 thousand to the Netherlands, $10 million 687 thousand to Romania, and $7 million 383 thousand to Spain, $6 million 353 thousand to the United Kingdom, $6 million 140 thousand to Sweden and $6 million 66 thousand to Italy, which are important markets.
Last year, exports to Latvia increased substantially. The exports of the sector to this country increased from $48 thousand to $1 million 281 thousand.
Export sales to Portugal increased from $45 thousand to $551 thousand. Exports to the USA, where $27 thousand of two-wheeled vehicles were sent in 2021, increased to $530 thousand.
Meanwhile, last year exports were made to Denmark, Iceland, Seychelles, Estonia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Cape Verde, Sri Lanka, Colombia, Ecuador and Northern Ireland, where bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles were not shipped in 2021.
