Binding Agreement Signed for Flexis SAS by Renault Group

Renault Group has signed a binding agreement regarding Flexis SAS, the joint venture established in 2024 with Volvo Group and CMA CGM Group to develop a new generation of electric vans.

According to the company’s statement, Renault Group will acquire Volvo Group’s 45% stake and CMA CGM Group’s 10% stake in Flexis, becoming the sole owner of the company.

With this change, Renault Group will assume full responsibility for the development of the entirely new, fully electric light commercial vehicle range incorporating advanced technologies. The project will continue to be based in France.

The governance change will not result in any modifications to the project’s product targets or its original industrial plan.

The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of the first half of the year, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals. Since 2024, the project’s value has steadily increased thanks to the infrastructure and technologies developed. The skateboard platform, featuring an 800V motor and Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture, is strongly aligned with the challenges of urban logistics and the growing need for carbon reduction.

Countdown Begins for Renault Trafic Van E-Tech Electric

Renault Group teams are continuing development work on the new-generation electric van range. The first model of the project, the Renault Trafic Van E-Tech electric, is planned to enter production by the end of the year.

Approximately 1,300 employees are involved in the project at Renault Group facilities in France’s Île-de-France region, particularly at the Guyancourt Technocentre and the Villiers-Saint-Frédéric Light Commercial Vehicles Center of Excellence. The industrialization process of the vehicles is progressing at the Sandouville plant in Normandy.

As part of the project, distribution of the vehicles will be carried out by Volvo Group through Renault Trucks starting in 2027, continuing the long-standing cooperation between Renault Group and Renault Trucks in light commercial vehicles.
