Istanbul Stock Exchange’s Benchmark Index Drops by 0.49%
Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed the day at 10,743.30 points, marking a 0.49% decrease. The index fell by 53.28 points from the previous close, with a total trading volume of ₺103.1 billion.
Both the banking and holding indexes saw declines, with banking down by 1.19% and holding by 0.26%. Among sector indexes, food and beverages emerged as the top gainer with a 1.56% increase, while the IT sector suffered the biggest loss, dropping by 2.47%.
Analysts highlighted mixed movements in global equity markets following comments from US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, who emphasized the need for more positive data before considering a rate cut.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, analysts noted the importance of domestic weekly money and banking statistics. Internationally, key data will include inflation figures from the US and Germany, growth and industrial production figures from the UK, and US weekly jobless claims. US inflation data is expected to provide insights into the Fed’s future policy decisions.
