BIST 100 Index Falls by 0.12%, Mining Sector Leads Gains While Insurance Takes a Hit
Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index ended the day with a 0.12% decline, closing at 9,881.23 points. The index dropped by 12.18 points from the previous close, with a total trading volume of ₺93.6 billion. The banking and holding indices saw declines of 1.77% and 0.84%, respectively. Among sector indices, mining emerged as the top performer with a 5.72% gain, while the insurance sector recorded the biggest loss, falling by 3.16%.
Analysts noted that global stock markets exhibited a mixed performance today, influenced by concerns over a sharper-than-expected slowdown in U.S. economic activity, which had intensified selling pressure in the previous session. Tomorrow, investors will be closely watching domestic cash balance data, as well as key economic indicators from Japan, Germany, and industrial production figures.
