Borsa Istanbul has decided to close the Equity Market and the equity and equity index derivatives markets within VIOP for 5 business days and cancel today’s transactions.
In Borsa Istanbul Inc.’s statement on the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), “”Due to the increase in volatility and unusual price movements after the earthquake, our stock market is in order to ensure that our markets operate in a reliable, transparent, efficient, stable, fair and competitive manner, pursuant to the 1st paragraph of Article 39 of Borsa Istanbul Inc. Regulation on the Principles of Exchange Activities, the equity and equity index derivatives markets within the Equity Market and Futures and Options Market will be closed for 5 working days as of 11:00 am (until the evening of 14 February 2023) on 8 February 2023 and taking into account the low transaction volume that does not allow healthy price formation in closed markets, it has been decided to cancel all transactions carried out on 8 February 2023 in accordance with paragraph 1-c of Article 33 of the BIAS Regulation titled ‘Cancellation of Orders and Transactions by the Exchange”.
Today, after the decrease in the BIST 100 index exceeded the 5% and 7% limits, the index-linked circuit breaker system operated at 10:12.01 and 10:42.31, respectively. After the index-linked circuit breaker system started operating for the second time, the transactions were completely stopped with the announcement made by Borsa İstanbul Inc.
