CBRT: Total deposits of the banking sector reached ₺11 trillion 613.3 billion

Total deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺209.3 billion compared to the previous week, reaching ₺15 trillion 487.1 billion in the week ending February 16.

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT) announced weekly money and bank statistics.

Accordingly, the total deposits of the banking sector (including interbank) increased by ₺209 billion 266 million 706 thousand in the week ending February 16, reaching ₺15 trillion 487 billion 63 million 696 thousand.

In the same period, TL deposits in banks increased by 2.43% to ₺8 trillion 846 billion 704 million 980 thousand, and foreign currency (FX) deposits increased by 0.03% to ₺6 trillion 17 billion 998 million 482 thousand.

While total FX deposits in banks amounted to $206 billion 657 million last week, $174 billion 630 million of this amount was collected in the accounts of domestic residents.

Considering the data adjusted for parity effect, there was a decrease of $615 million in the total FX deposits of domestic residents as of February 16.

Installment commercial loan amount increased

Consumer loans in deposit banks decreased by 0.05% last week and reached ₺1 trillion 451 billion 307 million 852 thousand. In the same period, commercial installment loans increased by 0.58% to ₺1 trillion 351 billion 186 million 882 thousand, and credit card balances decreased by 0.23% to ₺1 trillion 645 billion 742 million 99 thousand.

Of the consumer loans in deposit banks, ₺394 billion 521 million 185 thousand consisted of housing, ₺70 billion 155 million 776 thousand from vehicle loans and ₺986 billion 630 million 891 thousand from other loans.

The total credit volume of the banking sector, including the CBRT, increased by ₺59 billion 721 million 22 thousand in the week ending February 16, reaching ₺11 trillion 613 billion 295 million 425 thousand. Total loan volume increased by 52.51% compared to the same period last year.
