Borusan Ventures has invested in Everstar, a company developing AI-powered compliance solutions for nuclear energy and industrial operations. “Everstar significantly accelerates the energy transition by simplifying complex and costly regulatory processes,” said Defne Kocabıyık Narter, Founder and Chair of Borusan Ventures.
According to the company’s announcement, Borusan Ventures — the corporate venture capital arm of Borusan Group — continues to invest in solutions that address rising global energy demand. Based in Silicon Valley, the firm backs early-stage startups in the U.S. and Europe across energy, mobility, logistics, supply chain, and industrial technologies. Leveraging Borusan Group’s sectoral expertise, it provides strategic support and helps portfolio companies access new markets and scale globally.
Everstar, which develops AI-driven compliance tools to accelerate nuclear energy projects, raised a total of 5.5 million dollars in an investment round held in early 2025, in which Borusan Ventures also participated. The round was led by Third Prime VC, with participation from Pelican Energy Partners, EXCEL Services, Virta Ventures, Generational Partners, Page One Ventures, and several angel investors.
With the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, data centers, and electrification, global energy demand is increasing sharply. While renewable sources such as wind and solar contribute to meeting this demand, the need for nuclear energy — a low-carbon, continuous power source — is also growing. However, lengthy and complex regulatory processes often slow the commissioning of new nuclear plants. Overcoming these bureaucratic barriers is crucial for accelerating the energy transition and achieving energy abundance.
Gordian Platform: Merging AI With Sector Expertise
Everstar aims to eliminate key hurdles to nuclear and industrial investments through its Gordian platform. Gordian combines artificial intelligence with deep industry knowledge to simplify licensing procedures, reduce compliance costs, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen coordination between companies and regulatory bodies. The platform offers solutions for both existing power plants and new reactor projects, including automation of compliance processes and preparation of technical documentation.
Everstar recently demonstrated its capabilities by reducing a small modular reactor (SMR) producer Last Energy’s environmental review period from eight weeks to just one. The company is also collaborating with consulting firm Accenture to integrate its AI product into existing power plants using Accenture’s operational expertise.
Everstar plans to expand its AI-based solution across additional segments of the nuclear energy value chain and into other highly regulated industries.
“Global Energy Demand Is Rising Rapidly”
Defne Kocabıyık Narter emphasized that global energy demand is surging and that the need for sustainable and reliable energy sources is growing accordingly.
“We expect nuclear energy to play a key role in this transition with its low-carbon structure and baseload generation capacity. Everstar meaningfully accelerates the energy transition by streamlining complex and costly regulatory processes,” she said.
