Çelebi Aviation Expands Support for Skilled Workforce with New University Building

Global ground handling services provider Çelebi Havacılık has inaugurated a second academic building at the Ali Cavit Çelebioğlu School of Civil Aviation within Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University (EBYÜ), reinforcing its long-term commitment to developing qualified human resources for the aviation sector.

With more than 65 years of experience and operations across three continents, the company completed the new facility with its contributions and officially opened it at a ceremony held at EBYÜ’s Yalnızbağ Campus.

The event was attended by senior officials including Binali Yıldırım, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States; Erzincan Governor Hamza Aydoğdu; Mayor Bekir Aksun; EBYÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Akın Levent; and members of the Çelebi Aviation leadership, including Chairwoman Canan Çelebioğlu and Çelebi Ground Handling Chairman Can Çelebioğlu.

Strengthening Aviation Education Infrastructure

The new building aims to enhance both the physical and academic infrastructure of aviation education in Türkiye and to increase the number of qualified professionals trained in areas needed by the industry.

Positioning education–industry collaboration as a long-term value area, Çelebi Aviation seeks to help young people enter the aviation ecosystem better equipped and to build a career bridge between academia and the sector.

Expanded Academic Capacity

With the addition of the second building, the Ali Cavit Çelebioğlu School of Civil Aviation is preparing to offer an expanded range of undergraduate and graduate programs.

At the undergraduate level, programs include aviation management, aircraft maintenance and repair, and aviation electrical and electronics. At the graduate level, students can pursue studies in aviation management and aviation science and technologies. The school also plans to admit students to air traffic control and pilot training programs in the coming years.

Built on a 3,841-square-meter plot, the four-story building offers 13,174 square meters of enclosed space. It features 26 classrooms with a capacity for 1,300 students, three laboratories, six workshops, six lecture halls, one conference hall, and 105 offices for academic staff and administrative units. Social and shared spaces are also included to support students’ academic and social needs.

From Education to Employment

More than 500 students are currently enrolled at the school, and over 100 graduates are already working in the aviation sector.

As of 2025, 26% of employees at Çelebi Hava Servisi are graduates of civil aviation programs, with the ratio rising to 46% among administrative staff positions.

Speaking at the ceremony, Çelebi Aviation Holding Chairwoman Canan Çelebioğlu said the company continues to reinvest what it has gained in the country into projects that support its future.

Addressing students, she highlighted that aviation is a global industry requiring discipline, responsibility and continuous development. “As travel, trade and tourism grow, aviation grows. And as aviation grows, the need for qualified human resources increases. As Çelebi Aviation, we will always stand by you on this journey,” she said.
