Cenk Alper, CEO of Sabancı Holding, has been appointed as a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) Executive Committee, effective January 1, 2025. With this appointment, Alper becomes the only Turkish executive in the newly formed Executive Committee.
The WBCSD, one of the world’s leading business platforms for sustainable development, held its annual General Assembly recently, during which the new Executive Committee for the next term was announced. Founded in 1995, WBCSD currently represents approximately 240 global companies, focusing on supporting sustainable development and strengthening corporate transformations through partnerships.
Sabancı Holding has been a member of WBCSD since October 2020, representing Turkish business on a global scale. The appointment of Cenk Alper to the Executive Committee reinforces Sabancı Holding’s commitment to sustainability and international collaboration.
“Proud to Represent Turkish Business”
Commenting on his appointment, Sabancı Holding CEO Cenk Alper emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainability goals. “Success in sustainability lies in unity and cooperation. Leveraging each other’s experiences, sharing best practices and roadmaps, and collectively striving for better outcomes are critical. Increasing our influence within global organizations like WBCSD is essential in this journey,” said Alper.
“When Sabancı Holding joined WBCSD in October 2020, we were the Council’s only Turkish member at the time. Now, as part of the Executive Committee—responsible for overseeing the Council’s strategy and monitoring the efficiency of its activities—I am proud to represent Turkish business on this platform. This role also aligns with our Community Promise: ‘We unite Turkey and the world through pioneering initiatives for a sustainable life,’ and will significantly support our commitment to sustainability,” he added.
