Computer games reached $36.7 billion in 2021

The advancements and the latest updates in the game world, which affect entertainment and the means to achieve it in many ways, also marked 2021. So much so that the new form of entertainment video games reached $36.7 billion on the PC platform, Intel introduced its 12th Generation processor, Android 12 was launched. Turkey’s technology brand Casper, on the other hand, conveys the most important global developments in the last year.

Computer Games Created 20% of the Gaming Industry

The development of technology, of course, helps the gaming industry to grow day by day. In fact, according to a published report, the global gaming industry reached $180.3 billion in 2021, an increase of 1.4% compared to last year. 20% of this increase with $36.7 billion came from computer games. The main reason for the increase in the consumption of computer games is the development of gaming computers that offer enhanced power and performance in recent years. In addition, the mobile gaming industry had a large share in the growth of the gaming industry with 52%. According to the same report, there has been an annual growth in the number of players as well as game revenues. The increase in the number of players continued throughout the year in 2021, reaching 3 billion players with an increase of 5.33%.

Version Updates Gain Interest in 2021

2021 saw a lot of development and technological innovation, but some of them made a worldwide impact. On October 5, Windows 11 was released. In the new version, many new features were added, different from the previous ones, and there were major changes in the design. Intel has released its new 12th generation processor, and this new generation chip features the performance improvements expected from a CPU generation and appears to be the first socketed CPU with a hybrid structure. On October 4, Android 12 was released, and Google described it as “the biggest design change in Android history”. Apart from these, due to the global pandemic, there were also problems in graphics card stocks in 2021, causing a major crisis.
