Brussels — According to data released by the European Statistical Office (Eurostat), construction production in the Eurozone increased by 1.7% in April compared to the previous month, and rose 3% year-over-year.
Eurostat’s seasonally adjusted construction production figures for April indicate a positive trend across both the Eurozone and the European Union (EU).
In the EU overall, construction output rose 1.4% month-over-month and increased by 2.5% compared to April 2023.
Hungary, Spain, and Slovenia Lead Monthly Growth
Among EU member states, Hungary recorded the highest monthly increase in construction output in April, with a 5.3% rise, followed by Spain (4.3%) and Slovenia (4%). On the other hand, the largest declines were seen in Czechia (-5%), Denmark (-0.9%), and Poland (-0.8%).
Annual Figures Show Strong Growth in Spain and Bulgaria
On a yearly basis, construction output rose sharply in Spain (14.7%), followed by Bulgaria (7%) and Belgium (6.6%). However, notable declines were recorded in Slovenia (-5.9%), Poland (-4.3%), and Slovakia (-2.1%).
The April data suggest a steady recovery in the construction sector across much of Europe, with regional disparities highlighting the differing pace of economic and infrastructure development within the union.
