Cooperation in tourism between Turkiye and Paraguay

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and his Paraguayan counterpart Sofia Montiel de Afara signed the tourism cooperation agreement between Turkiye and Paraguay.

Speaking at the signing ceremony held in the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Minister of Culture and Tourism Ersoy said that the Turkish Embassy was opened in Asuncion, the capital of Paraguay, on November 20, 2018, with the efforts of Turkiye towards the Latin America and Caribbean region.

Expressing that a new process was started in bilateral relations with Paraguay, Ersoy stated that following this first step, especially the execution of technical cooperation projects through TIKA and the relations established with regional organizations accelerated the relations with Paraguay.

Ersoy stated that the number of cooperation and projects between the two countries is increasing day by day with the contribution of the relevant institutions.

Stating that the main purpose of the signed text is to share the rich tourism experiences of the two countries, Ersoy said, “With this agreement, we have obtained the roadmap necessary for diversifying tourism opportunities and ensuring a comprehensive and sustainable transformation. The signatures will create an infrastructure for existing and potential investors and will contribute greatly to mutual tourist mobility.”

“We can focus on co-productions on active television channels”

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy emphasized that one of the most important benefits of tourism is that it allows people from different cultures to get to know each other.

Ersoy said that tourism will reveal new cooperation opportunities in the field of culture in this respect, and that when these opportunities are evaluated, the people of the two countries will overcome the geographical distances with cultural knowledge and awareness.

Minister Ersoy said, “We can produce concrete projects on this subject in the coming period, we can focus on programs and co-productions promoting gastronomy, historical places, travel routes and local cultures on active television channels of both countries.”

Noting that Paraguayan Minister Afara said that many Turkish series are broadcast on television channels in their country and are watched with interest, Ersoy pointed out that the steps taken and new opportunities that have emerged will further increase bilateral relations with Paraguay in recent years.

“It will promote relations between the two nations”

Paraguayan Tourism Minister Afara said that the cooperation they signed will promote economic growth, environmental protection and relations between the two nations through tourism.

Stating that this cooperation will contribute to the development of an authentic tourism model, Afara said that diversifying offers, encouraging investments and implementing good practices are priority actions.
