Crowdfunding Market Expands in Türkiye

The global crowdfunding market, which has been growing rapidly in recent years, is gaining momentum in Türkiye as well, supported by regulations introduced by the Capital Markets Board of Türkiye (CMB), according to Sefa Koç, Board Member of the Tohum Crowdfunding Platform.

In a statement released by the platform, the global crowdfunding market surpassed $20 billion as of 2024, securing a permanent position among alternative financing instruments. Driven by digitalization, the market continues to expand worldwide, playing a complementary role in facilitating startups’ access to capital.

In Türkiye, equity-based crowdfunding activities are carried out within the legal framework established by the CMB. Official data and sector reports indicate that while the Turkish crowdfunding market is still in a development phase, both transaction volumes and investor interest are increasing steadily.

Campaigns conducted through CMB-licensed platforms highlight technology- and innovation-focused projects, channeling investments worth hundreds of millions of Turkish lira into the entrepreneurship ecosystem. With the wider adoption of digital financing tools, crowdfunding is assuming a more visible role within capital markets.

The Tohum Crowdfunding Platform aims to facilitate access to capital for early-stage ventures by bringing entrepreneurs and investors together in a digital environment.

Commenting on the development, Sefa Koç stated that crowdfunding enables startups to connect with investors at an early stage. Emphasizing that the model helps distribute capital across a broader base and strengthens the entrepreneurial ecosystem, Koç said:

“The rapidly growing global crowdfunding market has been placed on a secure and transparent foundation in Türkiye through CMB regulations.”
