Global crude steel production decreased in September

Global crude steel production decreased by 1.5% in September compared to the same month last year, reaching 149.3 million tons. Turkiye’s crude steel production increased by 8.4% in September compared to the same period last year, reaching 2.9 million tons.

World Steel Association (Worldsteel), headquartered in Brussels, announced crude steel production data for September.

Accordingly, global crude steel production decreased by 1.5% last month compared to the same period in 2022, falling to 149.3 million tons.

It was estimated that the production of China, the world’s largest steel producer, decreased by 5.6% to 82.1 million tons in the said period.

While Japan’s production decreased by 1.7% to 7 million tons, the USA’s production increased by 2.6% to 6.7 million tons.

Germany’s production increased by 2.1% to 2.9 million tons.

Turkiye’s crude steel production increased by 8.4% in September compared to the same period last year, reaching 2.9 million tons.

It was estimated that during the said period, steel production increased by 9.8% in Russia to 6.2 million tons and decreased by 12.7% to 2.4 million tons in Iran.

Global crude steel production increased by 0.1% in January-September 2023 compared to the same period last year, reaching 1 billion 406 million tons.
