Decline in Investor Numbers in Turkiye’s Stock Market

Investor Count Drops for Second Consecutive Week in Turkish Stock Market

The number of investors in the Turkish stock market has continued to decline for the second consecutive week. During the week ending May 31, the number of investors decreased by 240,916, bringing the total down from 8,578,116 to 8,337,200.

According to data from the Central Securities Depository (MKK), this decline marks a significant shift in investor sentiment. The previous week’s high of 8,614,243 on May 18 represented the highest investor count in the history of the Turkish stock market.

In addition to the drop in investor numbers, the total value of equity securities also fell, from ₺14.45 trillion to ₺13.95 trillion.

The continued decrease in investor participation signals potential concerns in the market, necessitating close monitoring and possible strategic adjustments to attract and retain investors in the coming weeks.
