Deposits of the Turkish banking sector increased by ₺76.2 billion and reached ₺15 trillion

Total deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺76.2 billion compared to the previous week, reaching ₺15 trillion 491.3 billion in the week ending January 26.

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT) announced weekly money and bank statistics.

Accordingly, the total deposits of the banking sector (including interbank) increased by ₺76 billion 220 million 145 thousand in the week ending January 26, reaching ₺15 trillion 491 billion 287 million 458 thousand.

In the same period, TL deposits in banks increased by 0.3% to ₺8 trillion 861 billion 301 million 781 thousand, and foreign currency (FX) deposits increased by 0.9% to ₺6 trillion 44 billion 84 million 893 thousand.

While total FX deposits in banks amounted to $211 billion 275 million last week, $178 billion 377 million of this amount was collected in the accounts of domestic residents.

Considering the data adjusted for parity effect, there was an increase of $1 billion 232 million in the total FX deposits of domestic residents as of January 26.

Installment commercial loan amount increased

Consumer loans in deposit banks increased by 0.9% last week and reached ₺1 trillion 440 billion 456 million 131 thousand. In the same period, commercial installment loans increased by 2.3% to ₺1 trillion 313 billion 552 million 465 thousand, and credit card balances increased by 1.9% to ₺1 trillion 588 billion 532 million 312 thousand.

Of the consumer loans in deposit banks, ₺394 billion 326 million 932 thousand consisted of housing, ₺71 billion 544 million 504 thousand from vehicle loans and ₺974 billion 584 million 695 thousand from other loans.

The total credit volume of the banking sector, including the CBRT, increased by ₺92 billion 152 million 417 thousand in the week ending January 26, reaching ₺11 trillion 389 billion 691 million 561 thousand. Total loan volume increased by 51.7% compared to the same period last year.
