Diesel fuel prices in Türkiye have fallen by approximately TL 9 per liter following the implementation of a gradual Special Consumption Tax (SCT) mechanism, providing some relief for consumers and businesses amid elevated fuel costs.
The adjustment comes as changes in fuel taxation and international oil prices continue to influence pump prices in Türkiye. Under the gradual SCT mechanism, tax adjustments are being reflected in fuel prices in stages rather than through a single sharp increase.
The reduction in diesel prices is expected to ease transportation costs, particularly for commercial vehicles and logistics companies, while also limiting some of the cost pressures faced by households.
Fuel prices in Türkiye are closely linked to global crude oil prices, exchange-rate movements and domestic taxation. As a result, further changes in international oil prices or the Turkish lira could lead to additional adjustments at fuel stations.
The latest diesel price reduction comes at a time when declining oil prices have raised expectations of lower inflationary pressure and reduced fuel-related costs for the Turkish economy.
