Biruni University hosted the Digital Technology Summit, focusing on digital transformation and the impact of artificial intelligence on education.
Speaking at the event, Biruni University Rector Prof. Dr. Adnan Yüksel said, “What matters in the education of the future is raising individuals who think, produce, continuously learn and use artificial intelligence correctly.”
According to a statement from the university, the summit was organized within the scope of the GENÇ AR-GE Project of the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, in cooperation with the Zeytinburnu District Directorate of National Education and Biruni University. The event was held at the Biruni University Conference Hall.
The summit was attended by Prof. Dr. Adnan Yüksel, Zeytinburnu District Director of National Education İsmail Çetinkaya, Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Adnan Ömerustaoğlu, GENÇ AR-GE Coordinator Muhammed Fatih Kartal, as well as teachers and students.
During the event, expert academics discussed the transformation of education in the digital age under various themes.
Dr. Erguvan Uras Eren from the Department of English Language Teaching addressed the topic of the effective and beneficial use of artificial intelligence in education, while Dr. Gizem Mutlu Gülbak shared insights on how artificial intelligence is reshaping the teaching profession.
Dr. Ahsen Filiz from the Department of Mathematics Education spoke about the development and future of distance education in the digital era.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşin Kaplan Sayı from the Department of Special Education presented examples of how education can be transformed through artificial intelligence applications.
At the summit, which attracted strong interest from students, AI-supported educational practices, the transformation of the teaching profession and the role of digital technologies in education were discussed in detail. The event concluded with a question-and-answer session.
“Using Artificial Intelligence Correctly Is Essential for Future Education”
In his remarks, Rector Prof. Dr. Adnan Yüksel emphasized that artificial intelligence literacy is no longer a choice but a necessity for the education sector. He noted that universities should evolve into centers of practice and experience rather than institutions limited to theoretical knowledge.

Zeytinburnu District Director of National Education İsmail Çetinkaya highlighted that digital transformation offers significant opportunities at all levels of education, adding that technological progress gains real meaning only when combined with value-based and original production.
GENÇ AR-GE Coordinator Muhammed Fatih Kartal stated that the project aims to enhance high school students’ cognitive and innovative thinking skills, noting, “We aim to raise young people who do not merely consume knowledge, but produce it and transform it into social benefit.”
