Döner, Lahmacun and Simit Emerge as Türkiye’s Favorite Flavors in 2025

Döner remained the most preferred cuisine in Türkiye in 2025, while lahmacun and simit also stood out among the country’s most popular flavors, according to an analysis of order data released by Yemeksepeti.

In a company statement, Yemeksepeti said it analyzed millions of orders placed throughout 2025 to reveal users’ “ordering rhythm” based on days, months and food preferences. The findings show that while traditional Turkish cuisine maintained its strong position, global options such as burgers and pizza, along with kebab, continued to attract significant demand.

Data from major cities indicate that in Istanbul and İzmir, classic dishes like lahmacun are frequently accompanied by complementary items such as lentil soup and ayran. Ayran appeared multiple times in different sizes among İzmir’s most-ordered items, while lentil soup ranked among the most frequently ordered products in Istanbul.

Yemeksepeti also introduced its “2025 Enjoyment Summary,” allowing users to review their personal ordering habits from the year through their accounts.

First Order of 2025 Came from Adana

Türkiye’s first Yemeksepeti order of 2025 was placed in Adana, highlighting continued demand for delivery services even in the first minutes of the new year. Staying true to tradition, the first order from Adana was Adana kebab, the city’s signature dish.

In the market category, simit, mineral water and chocolate were among the most preferred items. Drinking water, bakery products and carbonated beverages were also frequently added to shopping baskets. By category, snacks emerged as the leading group in market orders.

Users also showed interest in unconventional products in 2025. In the food category, gourmet items such as “Pear Pizza” and “Sun-Dried Sweet Pepper Paste” attracted attention, while non-food market orders featured items like “Silicone Dubai Chocolate Mold” and “Purple Shampoo” among the most popular choices.

Saturday Tops the Week, May Leads the Year

According to Yemeksepeti data, Saturday was the busiest day for orders across Türkiye in 2025, while May stood out as the month with the highest order volume. The figures indicate that weekends and spring months play a decisive role in ordering habits.

Overall, Yemeksepeti users continued to favor their classic tastes while also exploring new flavors. On average, users across Türkiye tried around seven different restaurants during the year, expanding their personal culinary maps. One standout user sampled 27 different restaurants in 2025, underscoring a strong appetite for discovering new cuisines alongside loyalty to familiar brands.
