ISTANBUL – Dorçe Prefabricated and Construction said it is ready to transfer its field experience in Libya to upcoming energy projects following the country’s latest oil and gas tender.
According to a company statement, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) recently held its first oil and gas licensing round in nearly 17 years. As part of the tender, Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) secured exploration licenses for two blocks, one offshore and one onshore.
Energy giants such as Repsol and Eni are also preparing to operate in the Sirte and Murzuq basins, drawing renewed attention to Turkish companies with an established presence in the region.
Among them is Dorçe Prefabrik ve İnşaat, which has been active in Libya for years and previously completed workforce accommodation camp projects in the Kufra region. The company demonstrated its capability to establish self-sufficient modular settlements in harsh desert conditions.
Dorçe’s completed project in Kufra, located in southeastern Libya in one of the most challenging areas of the Sahara Desert, is considered a pilot model for the anticipated new wave of oil investments.
The camp built by the company not only addressed accommodation needs but also integrated the technical infrastructure required for oil pipeline operations. The project utilized single-story modular prefabricated units installed on a concrete block placement system designed for desert terrain. This method tolerates ground irregularities and allows the camp to be dismantled and relocated when necessary.
Serhat Polatdemir, Overseas Bids Manager at Dorçe Prefabricated and Construction, said that as energy activities accelerate in Libya, infrastructure and housing demand—particularly in the Sirte and Murzuq basins—is increasing.
Emphasizing that the main challenge in the region is maintaining accommodation and operational sustainability under desert conditions, Polatdemir noted that integrated camp solutions play a critical role.
“We previously delivered projects in Kufra. These projects serve as references for the new period. In energy projects, time, logistics and mobilization capabilities are decisive. The camps we build in desert conditions are not only accommodation areas but also include the technical infrastructure necessary to ensure uninterrupted operations. We are ready to carry our experience in fast-installation, mobile living spaces suitable for desert conditions into new projects,” he said.
Polatdemir added that extreme temperature differences between day and night in desert regions are taken into account in structural design. The company uses special insulation materials and reinforced steel construction systems, as well as structures resistant to sandstorms and wind loads, to develop long-lasting, low-maintenance facilities.
He also underlined the importance of self-sufficient living areas in energy fields located far from urban grids.
“In the camp’s infrastructure, clean water tanks and on-site network systems were integrated alongside wastewater and septic treatment systems installed in container units. Energy continuity was ensured through dedicated generator rooms, distribution panels and technical container units. We provide holistic solutions in critical areas such as water supply, waste management and energy provision,” Polatdemir said.
