
New commercial vehicle registrations slip 15.7% on annual basis, latest data shows
Sales of commercial vehicles in the EU continued on a downward trend in February, falling 15.7% year-on-year, according to latest figures released on Thursday.
A total of 131,874 vehicles were sold across the 27-member bloc last month, data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association showed.
All four of the region’s major markets narrowed Spain by 23.3%, France 21.4%, Germany 8.1% and Italy by 4.8%.
All categories, except heavy commercial vehicles, saw declines, with the largest drop recorded in sales of vans.
Demand for vans light commercial vehicles tumbled 18.2% on an annual basis to 106,899, while there was modest growth of 0.4% in sales of heavy commercial vehicles.
In January and February, commercial vehicle registrations in the EU fell by 13.5% year-on-year to 257,127 units.
